The Renault is about to launch the new fourth-generation Twingo, a fully electric urban car that revisits the monocoque design of the original 1992 model.

The Twingo will be presented to the public at the 2024 Paris Motor Show and promises to be a compact vehicle, measuring 3.75 meters in length and 1.75 meters in width, ideal for cities like London and Paris.

Despite its size, the car is designed to accommodate five passengers, maintaining a smart design with a wheelbase of 2.5 meters.

Renault’s CEO, Luca De Meo, confirmed the return of the Twingo, which will become the group’s third electrified icon, following the Renault 5 and the future Renault 4. The model is expected to hit the market in 2026, but has not yet been approved for production with right-hand drive, which could limit sales in the UK.

Renault estimates that the cost to adapt the car for this type of steering will be around $1.3 million, raising doubts about its commercial viability.

Renault’s Ampere sub-division is leading the group’s electrification strategy, working on models aimed at attracting electric vehicle skeptics. The focus on technology is also highlighted, with Renault developing a new software architecture and introducing a digital assistant named Reno, which will use artificial intelligence to enhance the onboard user experience.
